What is SME debt advisory?
Debt advisory used to be a service only large companies and private equity houses could get. SME debt advisory brings the same approach to owner-managed and growing businesses: an adviser who works for the company, not the lender, sets how much debt it can sensibly carry, designs the structure and runs a competitive process so the business signs the right facility on the right terms.
Most SMEs borrow from the bank they have always used and accept its first offer. That offer is the bank's opening position, made without competition. Testing it across high street and challenger banks, debt funds and specialist lenders often improves leverage, margin, covenants or flexibility, and sometimes confirms the bank's offer is the right one.
What we advise on
Refinancing existing loans, overdrafts or invoice finance onto a better structure. Growth capital for new sites, contracts, capacity or hires. Acquisitions and buyouts, from buying a competitor to a management buyout. Shareholder changes, such as buying out a co-founder. Working capital through asset based lending, revolving credit or trade finance. And covenant pressure, where an early, well-presented plan keeps the most options open.
Why an SME needs a debt adviser
Owners and finance directors of growing companies rarely have time to approach a dozen lenders, compare term sheets that are written differently and negotiate the detail that matters later: covenants, security, fees, prepayment terms and headroom. We do that work for you, and we know which lenders back businesses of your size, sector and situation.
We prepare a credit paper that presents the business the way credit committees expect, which shortens the process and avoids the back and forth that stalls many SME applications. You get one structure, one process and one team accountable for the outcome.
