FAQs

Questions we are asked

How much can my business borrow?

It depends on profits, cash flow and any security. Many lenders size loans at around 2x to 3x EBITDA at this level, and more where there is property or a strong track record.

Can I borrow without security?

Yes, unsecured lending is available up to around £2m, usually with a personal guarantee from the directors.

What is the Growth Guarantee Scheme?

A government-backed scheme where the British Business Bank guarantees 70% of the loan to the lender, helping viable businesses with limited security borrow up to £2m per group.

Is a revolving credit facility better than a loan?

For working capital that goes up and down, often yes: you only pay interest on what you draw. For a one-off purchase, a term loan is usually simpler.

When should I consider invoice finance instead?

If you sell on credit terms to other businesses, invoice finance can release more cash than a loan and grows as your sales grow.
